What is an anti-vision?
Let's get real for a moment.
Your anti-vision is the version of you that's quietly being built… every time you say "maybe later," every time you break a promise to yourself, every time you fall back into the loop of self-sabotage.
She isn't some fictional worst-case scenario. She's YOU, if you keep choosing comfort over courage. Avoidance over awareness. Excuses over action.
This is who you become if nothing changes. And the truth is… you already know her.
Do you know her already?
You've felt her creeping in. She's inconsistent, reactive, and tired of her own bullsh*t.
She scrolls more than she shows up.
She waits for motivation, but it rarely comes.
She starts over every Monday, but it never sticks.
She watches others change, while she stays stuck in her patterns.
She's got dreams, but no traction.
She's not broken. She is disconnected from her power.
Now here's the kicker: you won't change by logic alone. You won't change just because you "know better." You change when you feel the cost of staying the same is far greater than the fear of change.
Change happens when you look at this version of yourself… and say, "I refuse to become her."
If you're done with constantly "starting over," it's time for a different approach.
Vision boards and dream-life exercises sound good, but if they worked, you wouldn't still feel stuck.
Here's the truth: humans are wired to avoid pain more than chase pleasure. We don't cram for an exam because success excites us. We do it because failing scares the hell out of us.
So instead of chasing another perfect future, we'll harness the power of what you don't want. By vividly imagining the life you refuse to live, you'll unlock a deeper motivation, the kind that lights a fire in your belly and makes sure you never become that version of yourself.
By the end, you'll not only have a vivid picture of what you're running away from, but also a renewed determination to run toward something better.
Here's how we'll do it
Meet Her, the version of you that stays stuck
You'll take a brutally honest look at who you become when you let old patterns lead. We're not sugarcoating this. This is where it might sting. Let it.
Feel It Fully, without escaping it
Once you've met your anti-vision, I want you to sit with it. Don't scroll. Don't distract. This is the moment your mind and body register: "That's not me. That's not who I'm here to be."
Flip the Script, choose your path forward
You'll ask yourself: "What needs to change TODAY so I don't become her?" "Who do I choose to become instead?" This is the moment you lead yourself out of autopilot.
🪞 Reminder
This isn't just a journaling task. This is a mirror. A wake-up call. A pattern interrupter.
You're going to walk yourself down the path of inaction. The version of your life that unfolds when you keep doing exactly what you're doing now.
You don't need to be ready. You just need to be honest.
It's about awareness. It's about finally facing what happens when you don't back yourself, and deciding, with clarity and conviction, that your life is going to move in a different direction.
Before you start
Set aside about 30 minutes of uninterrupted time.
You're already in the right place. Just start typing. Everything you write saves automatically on this device.
Be honest with yourself. No one else will see this, so don't hold back.
The more raw and real you can be, the more impactful this exercise will be.
Ready? Let's dive in.
STEP 1
Quick Anti-Vision Brainstorm
First, we'll do a quick brainstorm to get your mind tuned into "anti-vision" mode. Answer with the first thoughts that come to mind.
Don't overthink it. Jot down your answers immediately. Even if they sound dark, selfish, or wrong. The goal is to surface your visceral gut feelings about what you absolutely loathe the idea of becoming or experiencing.
💡 These quick answers are the ingredients of your anti-vision. They spotlight your deepest aversions. Keep them in mind as we paint the full picture next.
STEP 2
Paint Your "Nightmare Scenario"
Now the core of the workshop: writing out your anti-vision in vivid detail. This is where you confront the nightmare scenario you're afraid of ending up in if nothing changes.
It's meant to be a wake-up call, a gut punch of truth and clarity, so fully embrace the discomfort and get those details down. Take 8 to 10 minutes. The more specific and honest you are, the more you'll emotionally connect to why you do not want this.
Imagine yourself 10 years from now, having continued on your current path with all the same self-sabotaging habits. If you keep doing exactly what you're doing now. Where will you be in a decade? Describe it in the present tense, as if you're living it right now.
When you're finished
Pause and read over what you wrote. Maybe even out loud. Let it sink in. It might feel painful, sad, or frightening. That's good. This strong discomfort is your inner alarm system saying "NO! I cannot let this happen."
STEP 3
From Fear to Fuel
By now you should feel a knot in your stomach or a fire in your chest. That intense feeling is determination, sparked by fear and regret. Now we channel that energy into a concrete plan.
Your anti-vision is a gift: it shows you exactly what to avoid and change in your real life. As psychologists put it, defining your anti-vision creates a powerful filter for making decisions. You can now measure your choices by whether they lead toward or away from that nightmare scenario.
🔍 Reflect on what you've learned
Take a moment to reflect on the anti-vision you wrote.
Recognising these elements is crucial. They are the pivot points where you must make changes.
🚀 Plan your escape route
Now, let's turn insight into action. Given what you've discovered, what will you do differently starting now to make sure the anti-vision never becomes reality? List around 2 to 3 specific actions for each.
Use your anti-vision as your new compass
Take a deep breath. In just 30 minutes, you've confronted a future you never want to live, and more importantly, you've mapped out how to avoid it.
Any time you feel yourself slipping, revisit your anti-vision. Read what you wrote about that nightmare life and let it remind you why you're making changes. Every decision you face, ask: "Will this choice lead me closer to that life I dread?" Whenever self-sabotage tempts you, picture that dreaded future and let it push you forward.
You have the power to rewrite your story. Starting today.
